Wire Rope Lubrication Services

Wet Tech lubricates wire rope as it spools, using the Viper lubrication system: a lubricator clamped on the rope and fed by a grease pump. Regular lubrication helps protect the rope and extend its service life. Add lubrication to any crane, barge or winch spooling job.

Rent the Spooling Unit or Have Us Spool It

Your crew can rent a unit by the day, rent with an operator, or have our crew handle the spooling. Our RS units are skid-mounted, engine-driven reel stands rated up to 70,000 lb, with directional controls, an engine kill and a four-part sling for offloading. They hold back tension up to 3,000 lb (never more than the reel is rated for) and spool wire rope up to 2-3/4 in, depending on length. Units can ship on DNV-certified offshore flat racks for offshore and marine jobs.

Back tension is never more than the reel is rated for, and maximum wire rope diameter depends on rope length. The RS-001 and RS-005 both have a strongback frame, and the RS-001 adds a braking system. All RS units have directional controls and an engine kill, with controls at the power unit, and come with a four-part sling for offloading. Shafts from 3 in to 6 in are available to fit your reel. Rentals are by the day, with operator options available.

Crane re-reeving and hoist rope changeouts

When a large crane needs new hoist or boom rope, the spooling unit holds the reel and turns it. Spool the old rope off the winch drum onto an empty reel, then pay the new rope off its reel onto the drum during re-reeving. Directional controls let you spool on or off.

Derrick barges and marine winches

Derrick barge and marine operators use our units and spooling crews to change out and respool winch rope.
